Billing for telehealth services
Health Options will continue to reimburse clinically appropriate telemedicine services. New codes for telemedicine billing have been instituted due to the public health emergency. Interim provider billing guidelines to supplement the Health Options Telemedicine/Telehealth Services Reimbursement Policy can be accessed here. We have also adopted the CDC and Medicare pandemic rule that allows telephonic screening of Members to rule out COVID-19. Your office will be receiving further instructions from CMS on how to properly bill for this service.
Please note that all codes are subject to regular claim editing policies, Member benefits or certificate of coverage, eligibility, and Prior Approval requirements. Health Options does not reimburse for separately billed services considered incidental to services included in this policy.
