Reporting to the Communities We Serve—2017 in Review

Every year Community Health Options provides a report to the communities we serve. The resulting document is not only a retrospective look, but also provides insight into the succeeding year's programs and services aimed at changing the landscape of health insurance, transforming the healthcare experience, and expanding access to needed care for people we serve in Maine.

We believe each Member of our Plan contributes to the overall health and wellbeing of our entire community of Members by actively engaging in their own healthcare. When each Member takes responsibility for doing as much as possible to improve his or her health and wellbeing, our entire CO-OP benefits.

Providing essential health benefits, supporting providers with health improvement efforts, and bringing forward insurance coverage of greater value to consumers and employers is our commitment to you.

In addition to working toward our mission and vision for Maine people in 2017, Health Options also received two awards that exemplify the way we work.  We received a Best Places to Work in Maine designation (one of 80 companies so honored) for the third time in our short history, and a Silver Collar Award that honors workplaces with policies and practices that support older employees. 

In his closing message, CEO Kevin Lewis offered the following words of thanks:

"But if there is only one message that is maintained, let it be our sincere appreciation of the over 50,000 members, 30,000 providers and nearly 200 employees and volunteers who help make continued positive change a reality…"

The Maine legislature recently passed four bills, effective September 19, 2019, that pertain to health insurance plans and carriers. These regulations do not require any action by providers but may impact Health Options’ processes, payment, and benefits.
